Review: Khombu Footwear

Summertime may be here but that doesn't mean I can always stay dry. There's watering the lawn, tending to the garden vegetables, filling water tables and baby pools, and let's not forget those wicked thunderstorms that seem to swoop in from out of nowhere after a long, hot day. I forever find myself tromping through puddles, soaking my sneakers or flooding my flip-flops. So, when I had the chance to review a pair of rain boots, I couldn't pass it up.

Khombu Footwear has been around for many years and is highly regarded for their premium, cool weather ski and mountain boots. As a matter of fact, Khombu has been an official footwear sponsor of the United States Ski and Snowboard Teams. All Khombu footwear is technically engineered, weatherproof and waterproof, combining the latest advanced materials and insulations with trendy styling. And lucky for us, Khombu recently launched a line of spring boots, designed specifically for warmer weather.

I was fortunate enough to review a pair of Kaymen Rain Boots in Purple.

These boots are made of waterproof faux-leather with a stylish croc pattern, cute buckle detail and modest chunk heel. Kaymen features a non-slip outsole with an Ortholite moisture-wicking, anti-fungal foam insole to prevent odors. The Thermolite footbed cushions and conforms to your foot as you step but won't flatten over time like traditional soles. Best of all, the boots are cold rated to -20, making them basically seasonless!

I just love the girly eggplant color and the fun cheetah print on the inside lining. The buckle accents on the sides add a nice touch too. These really stand out from the crowd.

I'm normally not a fan of tall boots because they can be so difficult to get on and off. Not the case with my Kaymens! The flexible material and roomy calf make it easy to pull them on or off and tuck pants inside. They are incredibly comfortable and warm. With the grips on the bottoms, I'd feel totally at ease wearing them in sleet, snow and ice. Bring it on, Old Man Winter!

I found the fit true to size. I typically wear a size 7.5 but since Khombu only offers whole sizes, I decided to go up to a size 8. They are a little big but with a thick pair of socks, they fit like a dream.

Apparently, I'm not the only one who loves my new boots. This should tell you how cozy they are!

Bottom line: Rain or shine, everyone should make a splash with some Khombu Footwear.
