Review: Sensaria
My life has been anything but stress-free lately. For the past three months, I've been back on fertility treatment to - hopefully - conceive our second child. My hormones are constantly in flux, which makes me moody, anxious and emotional for at least a week out of each month. If you keep up with me on Twitter, you'll know my husband was laid off two weeks ago. Enough said there. And to top it off, we are babysitting my sister-in-law's children (ages 11, 4 and 1) for 4 days while she is on a mission trip to Cameroon. Needless to say, things have been more than chaotic around here.
But now, when I feel myself getting worked up and overwhelmed, I can just reach for my Sensaria.
Sensaria is a premier direct seller of naturally-based, spa-grade skin and body care products for personal and home use. Their philosophy is that daily self-care lays the groundwork for a healthy lifestyle and that every person deserves to use natural products that promote health and individual beauty.
While Sensaria products are available for purchase online, the core of their business revolves around in-home gatherings called Spa Experiences. At a Sensaria Spa Experience, a Host receives rewards for inviting one of our Independent Sales Representatives into her home to demonstrate their products. Since the very first Spa Experience in 2001, Sensaria now boasts thousands of Independent Representatives throughout the country.
I was fortunate enough to receive the Equilibria Balancing Spray from Sensaria for review.
The Equilibria Balancing Spray for Women features a sensuous aromatherapy blend of essential oils, including ylang ylang, neroli and geranium to harmonize moods, reduce stress and relieve some symptoms of PMS. You can use this cruelty-free formula as a room mist, linen spray or as a perfume on wrists and decollete to restore balance to the feminine cycle.
As soon as I found my patience was running on empty from our barrage of troubles, I spritzed some of my Equilibria Balancing Spray and breathed in the fragrance. It was as if I were frolicking through a floral garden, surrounded by roses, jasmine and orange blossoms. I'm not sure if it was the actual scent or the fact that I took a moment to clear my head and focus on something serene, but I really felt more calm and collected and ready to face what was before me. If you are like me and get really irritable during the first few days of your "monthly gift" or if you're simply juggling too many balls in the air at times, this spray is a fast, effective Mommy time out.
The only thing about the product that I am slightly disappointed with is that it is not recommended for pregnant or lactating women. Since I am trying to conceive, I am a bit reluctant to spray it during my two-week wait. It's also a little on the pricey side. For a one-income family, it's probably not something I would usually splurge on. But if you regularly invest in spa products, I think this would be a fun addition to your bath and body collection.
I have been looking at what else Sensaria has to offer and I would love to try the Cherry Almond Reconstructive Shampoo and Conditioner, Vanilla Bean Body Butter and the Microdermabrasion Creme. I also like that they have a whole Men's Skin Care collection. Their selection of home and personal care products is huge so there's no way you can put just one thing on your wish list!
Bottom line: Life may not always be roses - but at least it can smell like it with Equilibria Balancing Spray for Women.
BUY IT: To purchase the Equilibria Balancing Spray (ARV $32) or other Sensaria products or to learn more about hosting a Spa Experience or becoming an Independent Sales Rep, visit www.sensaria.com.
Disclaimer: Thank you to the Product Review Place for providing this opportunity! As noted above, I received a free 2 oz. bottle of Equilibria Balancing Spray from Sensaria in order to facilitate my candid review. I was not compensated in any other way for this post. The thoughts and feelings expressed in my review are solely mine. Your experience may differ.

Review and Giveaway: ProSilk CLOSED

It's officially the start of Memorial Day weekend and if you're like our family, you probably have places to go and people to see. We have a tradition of spending the weekend with my in-laws and going out on the bay in my father -in-law's boat. There's lots of picture taking involved so I'll want to look my best.
I have fine, straight hair but it has a tendency to turn wavy and unruly when it gets damp and air dries. You know that accidentally sexy, bed-head, beach look flaunted on all the swimsuit magazine covers? Yeah, I could never pull that off. On me it just looks messy and silly. The only way I can tame my tresses is with my new BFF: my ProSilk flat iron.
ProSilk sells high-quality professional hair care products at competitive prices. Their products are sold all over America, Mexico and Canada and are used by salons and stylists in addition to consumers. At ProSilk, you'll find flat irons, curling irons, hair dryers, shears, combs, shampoos, serums and more.
I had the opportunity to review ProSilk's 125S 1" tourmaline ceramic flat iron (ARV $59.99). Straighten, curl, flip...whatever style you want, this iron is up for the task.

This salon-quality straightening system features a scratch-free ceramic plate, which eliminates damaging hot spots while providing volume and preserving moisture and shine to give you smooth, silky hair. The ceramic technology produces negative ions, which eliminate frizz and static electricity and inhibit bacteria and odor buildup. The automatic sensor control system heats up to 450F in just 7 seconds. It is lightweight, slim, and easy to handle with a 9 ft. swivel power cord.
The first thing I noticed upon opening the package was the vibrant yellow color. It definitely stands out in the crowd of basic black. The device itself is quite compact and doesn't take up much bathroom counterspace. The dial is super easy to operate, allowing you turn on/off and customize the temperature for any hair type with just one finger. The wand features velvety exterior pads, making it comfortable to hold and touch, even on the hottest setting.
I was amazed at how quickly this thing could heat up. No sooner had I plugged it in and turned it on when I heard Nate fussing for a toy he couldn't reach. I retrieved the toy off the shelf and returned to the bathroom to find my iron was ready and waiting for me - in under 10 seconds! My old irons used to take F-O-R-E-V-E-R to heat up so I love that this one saves me time.
ProSilk totally lives up to its name. It takes my hair from blah to va-va-voom instantly. Other irons don't disperse their heat evenly or don't hold their heat over time but my ProSilk iron gives consistent, smooth results everytime. The long swivel cord makes it easy to maneuver and reach those small, hard-to-reach pieces in back. It's so awesome, I don't leave the house without first making a date with my new flat iron.
Not only does it give me some much-needed volume, but it adds a lustrous sheen that begs me to run my fingers through my 'do.
I have no complaints whatsoever about my ProSilk iron. The only thing that could remotely make it better would be to include a pad or holder to protect surfaces from heat damage. I'm always a bit paranoid about leaving hot devices on my counters but I have not had a problem unplugging and keeping it upright.
Bottom line: The ProSilk 125S offers a powerful punch in a small package. Not only does it save you time, but it saves you money at nearly half the cost of competitors.

Review and Giveaway: Kerasal Exfoliating Foot Moisturizer CLOSED

One of my favorite parts of spring is breaking out the flip flops and sandals. I don't have much time for a pedicure these days but I still need to take care of my tootsies if I want to look good from head to toe. Thankfully, I can count on Kerasal to lend me a hand. Err, foot.
Once only available from podiatrists, Kerasal foot care products are now available over-the-counter. Unlike ordinary foot creams, Kerasal's richly concentrated ointments are clinically proven to repair calluses and soften even the toughest, driest feet in just a few days.
For as far back as I can remember, I've been plagued with dry, cracked heels. I try to buff and file them regularly after I shower but I don't always have the time. And even then, the results are only temporary. So, I was delighted to have the chance to review Kerasal's One Step Exfoliating Foot Moisturizer Therapy. This dual-action formula exfoliates and moisturizes in one step. Before bed, simply wash and dry your feet, massage in the cream until absorbed and cover with some cotton socks. That's it! Wake up to soft, sexy heels!
Let me tell you...Kerasal did not disappoint. I loved that the cream was clear so it didn't make a huge mess and the application was incredibly easy. I am battling allergies so my nose has been a bit stuffy but I didn't notice a medicinal odor at all. The results were astounding:
Before Kerasal
After 2 days
I think the pictures speak for themselves. This stuff really works! I no longer have to feel self-conscious about the condition of my feet when I slip on my shoes. And while it's an extra step in my nighttime routine, it's well worth the two minutes. My heels look as smooth as a baby's bottom and I've only used it for a few days.
Bottom line: If you want to put your best foot forward, you'll want some Kerasal in your arsenal.
BUY IT: You can find Kerasal One Step Exfoliating Foot Moisturizer Therapy (ARV $9.99) and other Kerasal products at select grocery and drugstores nationwide, as well as online at www.drugstore.com.

Review and Giveaway: Skin Free Skincare CLOSED

Summer is just around the corner, which means I'll soon be wearing tank tops, camis, capris and skirts. If I want to show a little skin, I need to make sure it's in tip top shape. Soft and smooth. No razor bumps or ash. So, it was perfect timing when I was contacted by Skin Free to review some of their skincare products.
Skin Free products are designed and formulated by owner and practicing pharmacist, Julie Hinton, who has over 30 years of experience in compounding and natural skin care. After moving to the Blue Ridge of Virgina, her friends began calling her a "gypsy", so it was only natural she named her distribution company Blue Ridge Gypsy Studio. Having grown increasingly frustrated when asked to recommend products for patients with difficult skin problems and allergies, Julie decided to fill the void in the market with her own line of wholesome, natural skincare products.
Skin Free ingredients are all-natural, vegan and contain:
- No Perfumes
- No Petroleum
- No Harmful Chemicals
- No Steroids
- No Colorants
- No Greasy Feeling
- No Animal Testing
The naturally-occurring vegetable oils and butters in Skin Free products have nutrients, antioxidants, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and antibacterial agents that petroleum-based oils lack. The natural oils absorb directly into the skin without feeling greasy. They also come from replenishable sources, which makes them environmentally-friendly.
Skin Free products work to maintain the integrity of your skin, reduce exposure to antigens, and prevent acute outbreaks, making them a great option for people with the following conditions:
- Extreme Dry Skin
- Skin or Fragrance Allergies
- Psoriasis
- Dermatitis
- Eczema
- Diabetes
- Renal Disease
- Radiation or Chemotherapy
Julie sent me her Sweet & Smooth Sugar Scrub in Mandarin Vanilla (ARV $14.99) and the Honeysuckle Soap from Blue Ridge Gypsy Studio (ARV $4.99)
The sugar scrub is simply exquisite. I use it at least 3x/week as an exfoliator. The texture of the sugar crystals is very fine so it isn't at all rough on your skin. It's just grainy enough to slough off the dead skin cells and leave behind soft, touchable skin. It's worlds better than using lotion alone. I don't think my skin has ever felt this good after showering! I feel totally confident baring a little leg after indulging in my sugar scrub. The Mandarin Vanilla scent is very warm and relaxing, although I feel the almond oil sort of masks the citrus. Nonetheless, it is delicious! The only downfall is that it can get rather slippery in the shower so you don't want to be overly liberal with the application. But that is the case with any scrub really.
The Honeysuckle Soap is also great. I loved that it came packaged in feminine floral paper with ribbon. The presentation would make a great gift for someone. The two-toned bar was so pretty and it smelled so nice, I almost didn't want to open it.
Made of coconut, olive and palm oils, shea butter and scented with essential oils, I found the soap very moisturizing. Most bar soaps dry out my hands so this is a much more pleasurable alternative. The honeysuckle smell brought me back to my childhood and was better than potpourri. I keep it in our guest bathroom and I've had several comments on how great it smells. I would love to try the Winter Yuzu fragrance once fall rolls around.
Bottom line: If you want safe, sumptuous skincare, Skin Free and Blue Ridge Gypsy Studio are the place to go.
BUY IT: You can purchase unscented Skin Free products from www.skinfree.net and essential oil-scented products from Blue Ridge Gypsy Studio at www.blueridgegypsy.com. Both sites have a shared shopping cart for easy shopping and convenience.
WIN IT: One lucky reader is going to win a $30 gift certificate to use at Skin Free and/or Blue Ridge Gypsy Studio!
MAIN COURSE (MANDATORY ENTRY): Visit Skin Free and Blue Ridge Gypsy Studio and tell me what product(s) you'd choose if you won. Remember to please leave your email address in your comment if it isn't visible on your profile to prevent disqualification!

Review and Giveaway: CoverYourHair.com CLOSED

For Mother's Day, I treated myself to a new haircut. It's shorter, spunkier, adorable and I just love it. I've gotten loads of compliments, which makes me feel like a hot mama. But as with any other cut I've had, I can never duplicate the fresh-out-of-the-salon look. It's inevitable as it grows out that I will have some bad hair days. Don't we all get them now and again?!
Instead of reaching for a paper bag to disguise your 'do when disaster strikes , you can now go to CoverYourHair.com.
CoverYourHair.com offers affordable head coverings for any season or style. Hats. Headbands. Hair clips. Head wraps. Bandannas. Snoods. Tichels. Turbans. Whether you have long hair or short hair, or are looking for something heavy or lightweight, they have just about anything your heart - or your head - could desire.
For fall and winter, I'm really digging the pageboy style of the Cute Woven Cap in classic black houndstooth and the feminine, vintage Soft Pull-On Hat in versatile Beige.

For spring and summer, I love the colorful, Elegant Flower Hair Clip in earthy Olive (which doubles as a ponytail holder for you long-tressed gals) and the sheer, sparkly Wide Paisley Sparkle Headband in girly Pink.

Have you always admired a certain style but afraid you can't pull it off? CoverYourHair.com has you covered - pun intended! Just check out their "how-to" videos to learn stuff like how to tie bandannas or braid a hair scarf.
CoverYourHair.com even has an Under $5 section, with a huge selection of barrettes, clips and more! So, they truly fit any budget.
CoverYourHair.com generously sent me a Grey Tye Dye Beret to review. I'm normally not a hat person but I'm surprised by how much I've been able to integrate my new hat into my wardrobe. It's very lightweight - without feeling cheap - and really stays in place. I hardly ever have to adjust it, even after chasing my toddler around the house. It's a perfect choice for spring and enhances any casual ensemble.
The charcoal grey shade is basic enough to wear with almost any shade of top from deep pinks and purples to neutral browns and blacks. I also love that it is one-size-fits-all. No pulling out the tape measure! This makes for easy sharing with the girlfriends who will inevitably want to borrow it. I find myself wearing my beret even when I'm having a good hair day. It's that cute!
Bottom line: If your hair could talk, it would beg you to go to CoverYourHair.com. It is the one-stop shop for head accessories that will make you look and feel your best.
BUY IT: You can find the tye dye berets (ARV $15.99) and other hair items exclusively at CoverYourHair.com. You'll also want to check out their brand new selection of belts and shawls to complete your look.
WIN IT: One lucky winner is going to win a surprise box of hair accessories from CoverYourHair.com worth $25!

Review: Salon Grafix Invisible Dry Spray Shampoo

It's no secret that I don't shower everyday. So sue me. I can no longer get away with plunking Nate into a jumper or exersaucer for some mommy time. At 20 months old, his adventurous spirit means I have him under near constant watch. There are days that I have to place a priority on cleaning over bathing during naptime. And sometimes, amidst the grocery shopping, playdates and other random errands, there just aren't enough hours in a day to hop into a warm bath. Needless to say, my hair is often in need of some TLC. So, when I was invited to try Salon Grafix Invisible Dry Spray Shampoo, I jumped at the chance.
Dry shampoos have actually been around since the 70's. But they often require sprinkling tinted powder on your scalp, which can lead to a big mess - even stains - on your clothes or floor. Some of them can also leave white residue in your hair. Yuck! Who wants that?! Well, Salon Grafix has developed an innovative invisible spray shampoo that puts the others to shame. You simply spray it on sections of your roots, wait one minute and brush it out. The invisible formula is safe for all hair types, will absorb oil and neutralize odors. Result: clean, rejuvenated hair in a fraction of the time of traditional shampooing.
Sounds too good to be true, I thought. But having been sick lately and not showering often, it was the perfect opportunity to put it to the test. I loved that it was truly invisible with no powdery residue and a surprisingly light, pleasant fragrance. It was very quick and easy to apply. My hair is naturally oily so I wasn't sure how it would perform. I would say it was "okay". My hair did feel a little less slick and smelled clean but it wasn't a substitution for a regular shampoo. I think it would work best for those who shower at night and need a refreshment come morning, or for those times you are running late for work or an appointment and something would be better than nothing. Also, if you're postpartum or dealing with a hospital stay and showering isn't something you can get to right away, this would be a reasonable alternative.
Bottom line: While nothing beats a full shower, Salon Grafix Invisible Dry Spray Shampoo is good to have on hand for those times when it's just not possible.
BUY IT: You can find Salon Grafix Invisible Dry Spray Shampoo (ARV $7.99) at Target, Walgreens, Walmart, CVS and other select retailers nationwide.
Disclaimer: This review was made possible by The Product Review Place. I received a full-size sample of Salon Grafix Invisible Dry Spray Shampoo from Elyse at PR Revolution to facilitate my honest review. I was in no other way compensated for this post.

Review and Giveaway: Mirra Beauty CLOSED

I don't have a lot of time to spend on my beauty routine. On the average day, I'd say I only have about 10 minutes to spare. After showering and blow drying my hair, I wash and tone my face with Proactiv, and maybe - just maybe - I'll use some foundation and mascara. If I want to feel especially pretty, I'll break out the blush and eyeshadow. But that's about as (un)complicated as it gets.
Apparently, I'm not alone. In a recent online survey conducted by the grocery store chain Kroger, 71% of women said they have 10 minutes or less to spend on their beauty style. They also noted that they want products to enhance their natural beauty instead of disguising their true selves.
You asked and now you shall receive thanks to Kroger's new beauty line, Mirra. Mirra blends the best of natural ingredients such as olive oil, aloe leaf juice, bamboo honey and chicory root with proven scientific technologies such as oleosome emulsion for moisturzing skincare so us family-focused ladies can achieve effortless beauty. The Mirra line features shampoos, conditioners, lotions, body washes and mists, cosmetic brushes, eye and face creams and exfoliating cleansers. Mirra products are paraben and formaldehyde donor-free and can multitask almost as well as we can with three unique formulas: Daily (for routine personal care), Renew (for a much-needed mommy time-out) and Inspire (for quick transformations for a night out).

I received a package with a variety of Mirra products to review, including:
- Daily Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner - with aloe extract and wheat and soy proteins to moisturize and tame flyaways
- Daily Sculpting Gel - with chitosan, aloe and red tea leaf extract for a strong yet flexible hold
- Renew Protective Body Wash in Lemongrass & Ginger scent - with ginger, brazil nut and aloe extracts and glyceryl oleate to invigorate and deeply moisturize skin
- Renew Replenishing Body Wash in Bamboo & Honey scent - with bamboo and honey extracts and glyceryl oleate to nourish and maintain youthful appearance of skin
- Renew Protective Lotion in Lemongrass & Ginger scent - with ginger extract, copaiba and olive oils and oleosomes to stimulate the skin and provide immediate moisturization
I've been using my Mirra products daily for about two weeks now and I've been pleased with just about all of them. The shampoo lathered well and removed excess oil without drying out my hair. The conditioner left my hair soft and manageable, with no frizz or flyaways. The scents were light and fresh. Even with our hard water situation, the haircare products seemed to really cleanse and rejuvenate my hair. If I went a day without showering (a normal occurence around here!), my hair wasn't as oily as it normally can be. I would definitely buy both of these products again. As for hair gel, I don't normally wear it, as it tends to weigh down my fine, straight hair, but I decided to let my hair air dry until damp and scrunch to see the effect. Although it smelled good and didn't make my hair as sticky or stiff as other brands, I didn't prefer the outcome to my usual hairspray. If you normally use gel, I think you'd like the flexible hold but I plan to stick with what works for me.
Both body washes smelled great and left my skin feeling smooth and pampered. My favorite was the delectably sweet Bamboo & Honey scent. Yum! I think it's my new favorite! The lotion was moisturizing without leaving a layer of grease behind. I used it on my legs after shaving and it would transform my dry, ashy skin to silky and satiny in no time. The lemongrass and ginger scent was a nice pick-me-up on dull, rainy mornings.
Bottom line: I would highly recommend the Mirra line of beauty products. I like that they contain natural ingredients, and not only smell fantastic but are effective too! The only thing I would like to see is wider availability. I am hoping the products will soon be available online, as we don't have any Kroger stores nearby.
BUY IT: You can purchase Mirra exclusively at select Kroger stores and retailers that fall under the Kroger umbrella. Use their handy dandy store locator to find the one closest to you!
DELICIOUS DISCOUNT: Visit the Mirra microsite to find a digital coupon for $5.00 off the purchase of two Mirra products!
WIN IT: One lucky winner is going to win a box of Mirra beauty products similar to the one I received!

Review: Proactiv Solution

Since about the age of 14, I've battled mild to moderate acne. Over the years, the breakouts have become less severe but still frequent enough to be a nuisance. Just when I would get rid of a pimple, another one would crop up and bring a few accomplices along. Makeup can only cover so much and spot treatments only work temporarily or seem to cause more harm than good. It really does a number to my self-esteem to have all these red pustules and oily patches all over my face. NOT attractive. I'm an adult now - I shouldn't have to deal with this! There have been a few times I've avoided social gatherings just because I was so self-conscious and embarrassed about my acne. And don't even get me started about photos. There's a reason I'm usually the one behind the lens.
I'm sure we've all seen the infomercials for Proactiv Solution. Celebrities like Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore, Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson, Julianne Hough and most recently Katy Perry have endorsed their products.
I'm usually pretty skeptical about "as seen on TV" products but when I was offered the chance to review Proactiv, I was excited to put it to the test.
Proactiv was developed by two Stanford-trained, board-certified dermatologists as a way to "proactively" treat mild to moderate acne. The acne cycle actually starts below the skin's surface weeks before it becomes a visible blemish. Proactiv stops the cycle in its tracks before breakouts occur. It combines a mild solution of prescription-grade acne medicine (benzoyl peroxide) with premier skincare ingredients to unclog pores, kill acne-causing bacteria, soothe inflammation and condition your skin. Their new formula contains micro-crystals for faster pore penetration.
I was sent their flagship 3-Step System to review, which includes Renewing Cleanser, Revitalizing Toner and Repairing Treatment.

The Renewing Cleanser is an oil-free, soap-free medicated exfoliating cleanser with tiny beads that gently remove impurities, excess oil and dead skin cells. You apply to damp skin in a circular motion and rinse off with warm water. Next, you use the Revitalizing Toner, a refreshing alcohol-free, botanical-rich formula that refines and purifies pores while soothing and hydrating skin. You just pour a dime-sized amount onto a cotton-ball, apply to your face, and let dry before the third and final step. The Repairing Treatment is a feather-light, invisible, medicated lotion that kills acne-causing bacteria. Simply apply a pea-sized amount in a thin layer over the face and let dry. Easy peasy puddin' and pie!
Along with my 3-Step System, I received samples of the Refining Mask and Green Tea Moisturizer. The Refining Mask is a deep-cleansing mask containing sulfur, an acne-fighting ingredient that soothes inflammation and refines skin tone and texture. The Refining Mask can also be used as a spot treatment to help heal blemishes and reduce the appearance of pore size. It is recommended to use this at least 2-3x per week after Step 1 as an extra barrier against acne. The Green Tea Moisturizer is a lightweight serum with concentrated botanical extracts and antioxidants that pamper dry skin without clogging pores. This can be used daily or as needed after Step 3.

I found the process a little intimidating at first but quickly picked up on what to apply and when. None of the products had the harsh medicinal smell of traditional OTC acne fighters. They all had a light, pleasant fragrance. There was no stinging or burning and from the very first use, my skin felt soft and supple. After a week or so, my husband even commented that my skin was "glowing". He thought it was a new makeup or something but I told him, no, I wasn't wearing makeup...it was my Proactiv!
I've been using my Proactiv for about a month now and I am astonished at the results. I happened to break out a few days after starting the system but those pimples were significantly reduced in just one day and completely gone by the second day. I couldn't believe how fast and effective it was!
Check out my progression pics (and excuse the eyebrows...I need a wax badly!):
Before starting Proactiv. You'll notice I had a big red pimple on my chin below the left side of my lower lip, but I also had a cluster of tiny zits on my right cheek, near my dimple, that weren't as prominent in the photo.
2 weeks after starting Proactiv. You can see that not only have my blemishes disappeared, but my complexion is smooth and even.
4 weeks after starting Proactiv. Although the artificial light in this picture makes me look like a dandelion, you can see that my face is clean and clear.
I can't tell you how happy I am to be able to go out in public with confidence. Even during that time of the month, when my hormones do some serious damage to my face, the blemishes were kept at bay. Woot! Where was this stuff when I was in high school? It could have saved me much heartache back in the days of prom and peer pressure.
I did notice that if I skipped the regimen for a day, my skin was not as healthy so you'll definitely want to use Proactiv as directed, twice a day for optimum results. It's a bit more cleaning than I'm used to but with results like this, it's totally worth it!
Bottom line: Put your best face forward and get Proactiv. My skepticism has officially been blown out of the water and I will be purchasing another package after these bottles are empty. I can't think of one reason not to try this product if you suffer from mild to moderate acne.
BUY IT: You can purchase a 30-day supply of Proactiv online at www.proactiv.com for $19.95. A 60-day supply is also available for $39.95. Try it risk-free with their 60-day guarantee! If it works for you, you can become an Activmember and have your future orders shipped to you automatically.
Did you know that Proactiv also sells a full range of sun care, body care and makeup products?! All are non-irritating, made specifically for sensitive skin.

Giveaway: bareMinerals by Bare Escentuals CLOSED

The above pictures were taken on my wedding day three and a half years ago. I've sung their praises before but you can now see firsthand how luminous and beautiful Bare Escentuals' bareMinerals makeup really is. My hair/makeup artist almost exclusively uses bareMinerals products and its not hard to see why.
When I first caught a glimpse of the mineral foundation, I was skeptical. How could such a fine powder effectively cover my red blotches and blemishes? But it surpassed my expectations. bareMinerals feels so weightless and yet covers flawlessly. It transformed my pale, white skin into a radiant glow. It's like magic!
I like that the founder of Bare Escentuals, Leslie Blodgett, treats her brand like a community:
It began when we asked women to imagine a makeup that would actually change the way they feel about their skin and themselves. We encouraged women to take a leap and try something so unique, so unlike anything they’ve experienced before. We started the idea that makeup could actually be considered skincare, and we got people talking. A makeup that could be good for you? The Bare Escentuals community was born. We became friends with our customers, forging deep, personal connections simply by listening and sharing stories. It became less about makeup and more about what really matters.I already discussed their new campaign, Rethink What Matters. Did you miss that post? Well, to sum it up, Bare Escentuals wants women to sound off on issues that go beyond lipstick and mascara. Each Friday on www.rethinkwhatmatters.com, a new discussion topic will be posted with five simple questions to answer and share with your friends. In doing so, you'll be entered to instantly win free products and other goodies! There will be 500 winners each week and on March 26, 2010 at the conclusion of the campaign, one grand prize winner will be chosen to win the trip of a lifetime to somewhere like Paris, Costa Rica, Turks & Caicos, Italy or Asia!
BUY IT: If luck isn't on your side or you just can't wait to rush out and "go bare", you can purchase Bare Escentuals products online or use their handy dandy store locator to find a store nearest you. They even have a "Foundation Finder" tool to help you find the perfect shade!

Redefining Beauty With Bare Escentuals

My absolute favorite foundation is bareMinerals by Bare Escentuals. I first came across the makeup brand on the day of my wedding, when my stylist revealed her powdery pot of perfection. I had never heard of mineral makeup before but I was amazed at how something so light and airy could provide such great coverage. I was hooked from that point on. I can always count on Bare Escentuals to make me feel gorgeous.
But they also know beauty is more than skin deep. Their new campaign, Rethink What Matters, uses playful, thought-provoking taglines to encourage honest dialogue about beauty with your closest girlfriends. For example, one is "Rethink Going Bare in Public", in reference to their SPF15 Foundation, which feels weightless, as if you're wearing nothing at all.
As part of this campaign, Bare Escentuals is inviting you to rethink beauty. Each week through March 26, 2010, at www.RethinkWhatMatters.com, a new discussion topic will be posted, along with five questions for you to answer and share with your friends via email, Facebook or Twitter. In exchange for your participation, you will be entered to win free products and other fantastic goodies. A grand prize winner will be chosen at the end of the contest period to win the trip of a lifetime to Paris, Costa Rica, Turks and Caicos, Italy or Asia! Now that is definitely worth your while, wouldn't you say?!
So, head on over and join in the conversation!

Review and Giveaway: Orglamix CLOSED

Anyone who knows me knows I'm a girly girl at heart. Pink is my favorite color hands down and I love stilettos, platforms, lace and ruffles. And of course, I have loved makeup since as far back as I can remember. Since I've become a stay-at-home mom, however, I rarely shed my uniform of jeans/yoga pants and tee/sweater so my face is often bare. Besides, the only places I visit reguarly are the grocery store, post office and playground. Not like I'm trying to impress anyone there! And with my into-absolutely-everything toddler, I just don't have the time to fuss about with anything beyond my tinted moisturizer.
But in an effort to get a piece of the "pre-baby me" back and with Valentine's Day approaching, I really wanted to get dolled up for my hubby. You know, surprise him by wearing more than a sweatshirt and putting more than just chapstick on the lips. So, when I was granted an opportunity to review eye makeup from Orglamix, I was delighted to give it a go.
Orglamix provides artisan-crafted, 100% pure mineral makeup for eyes, cheeks and face. Foundations, powders, shimmers, shadows, blushes - they're all here and in virtually every color of the rainbow. All Orglamix products are cruelty-free and are formulated without:
- Nano-particles
- Bismuth Oxychloride
- Synthetic Dyes and Fragrances
- Parabens
- Phthalates
- Sulfates
- Petrochemicals
For my review, I chose the Bittersweet eye color collection. I really liked the natural, subdued look, which I could dress up or down, year-round.

When the set arrived, I was tickled pink to see it packaged in this adorable black organza bag, ready for gift-giving.
The Bittersweet collection contains a trio of shadows that can be worn alone separately or together to complete the above look:
Snow (a sparkly white base)
Chamomile (a shimmery gold hue)
Baie Rose (a deep pink shade)
As you can see, the minerals are crushed into powder form within small clear jars with sifters, so they can be distributed easily onto a brush or your fingertip.
I will admit I am a novice when it comes to eye makeup. I have very fair skin - almost porcelain - so when using colors, it is difficult for me to achieve a balance between looking as if I though I'm wearing nothing or resembling a doll or clown. But Orglamix was beyond easy to apply. The texture was so smooth and silky and the pigments blended nicely. The natural highlights and shimmers in the colors were superb and really made my eyes pop. Even though I'm a beginner with eye color, I think I did a fair job of mimicking the model photo.
The shadow didn't cake or crease at all over time. The color lasted for at least eight hours so I didn't have to worry about blinking it away or constantly reapplying. Orglamix claims the eye colors are smudge-proof and water-resistant, but I have not yet been able to test them under these conditions. Hopefully, I won't need to cry while I'm wearing them!
Bittersweet is a versatile look I can wear to to a job interview, out to date night with the hubbs or simply to run errands at the store. It's just the right hint of shimmer to set off any outfit, no matter how casual or dressy. I've been so happy with my new eye shadows that I'm already eyeing the Haute Coal and Snowflake Smoothie concoctions. (If I were more daring, I would totally rock the Rainbow Sherbet).
The only *extremely* minor issue I had about the product was that the pots were a little messy, as sparkle dust seemed to find its way all over my hands, face and countertops. But a few dabs with a damp towel and we were as good as new.
Bottom line: I would highly recommend Orglamix as an addition to your makeup bag. I love that the products are all-natural (no bat poop or questionable/unidentifiable ingredients!) and won't irritate my skin or harm the environment. Their vast assortment of colors are sure to appease any fashionista, and their collections take the guesswork out of choosing complementary colors.
BUY IT: You can purchase Orglamix cosmetics exclusively from their Etsy shop. Individual shadows start at just $3.99 and 3-color collections start at $11.99. Can't beat those prices in these hard economic times!
WIN IT: I know you'll want to look hot around Valentine's Day so one lucky reader is going to win a 3-color eye shadow collection of her own!
MAIN COURSE (MANDATORY ENTRY): Take a look at the eye color collections at Orglamix and tell me which one you're dying to snag. Remember to please leave your email address in your comment if it isn't visible on your profile to prevent disqualification!
SUGAR ON TOP (BONUS ENTRIES): To maximize your chances of winning, you may do any or all of the following. Be sure to complete the above mandatory entry or your bonus entries will not count! Remember to leave one comment per entry.
