There was a time when I showed great bravery, baring my belly button proudly in lowest-of-the-low-rise jeans. But as I've grown older - and gone through a pregnancy in which I gained 48 pounds - my abs have gone from fit to flabby. Any attempt to squeeze into those pre-pregnancy jeans results in the dreaded muffin top. Spare tire. Love handles. Whatever you call it, this excess roll of flesh is quite unflattering. But it's so hard to keep under wraps. Even if you find a top that's long enough to hide it, you're often exposed again the minute you bend over or sit down.
Thankfully, one company is battling the bulge - and emerging victorious.
Blush Topless Undershirts are a versatile new product that makes your tops fit better by adding an extra layer of length. The undershirts are designed to be worn like a tube top, but around your waist. Because there are no straps and no added bulk, the undershirt won't constantly ride up or need to be readjusted. You can arrange your undershirt to fall just over the top of your pants or tunic-style, down to your thigh. The poly/rayon/spandex blend won't shrink in the wash and allows the perfect amount of stretch and support. Blush Undershirts can also be worn during pregnancy to extend the life of your pre-pregnancy tops and pants before shelling out for a new maternity wardrobe. They make a great nursing accessory, as you can keep your tummy covered while you lift your shirt. Oh, and did I mention they come in super cute colors and patterns? Blush Topless Undershirts are for every woman.
I was sent a Blush Undershirt in Chocolate to review.
I was very impressed with the softness of the material. I've had Lycra-type "belly bands" that I used during my pregnancy but I found them itchy and irritating. They were forever riding up and they seemed to magnify my rolls rather than camouflage them. But my Blush Undershirt fit true to size and was so comfortable, I hardly noticed I was wearing it. I could bend over and run around after my toddler without revealing my muffin top or "split top muffin". I only had to pull it down once all day and that was after a long car ride.
A few of my most favorite sweaters have shrunk in the wash and had been tucked away in my dresser with an uncertain fate. Thanks to Blush, I can wear them and love them once again. I love the tapered fit and thought it worked well both under and over the hip. I don't see any reason why you couldn't also use your undershirt as a traditional tube top to give a peek of color and modest touch to your low-cut tops.
Bottom line: If you are looking for a way to refresh those tad-too-short shirts, mask your muffin top, or even if you want an effortless way to get the trendy look of layering, Blush Undershirts is for you. I like that you can save money since you won't have to replace shrunken tops or invest in a maternity wardrobe right away.
