Baby Wellness Weekend Review and Giveaway: Boogie Wipes CLOSED

As we all well know, kids pick up germs faster than you can pick up chinese takeout. Sometimes, it seems that every time you turn around, there's a sneeze or a cough or a stuffy nose or a crusty eye. Even with frequent hand-washing or hand sanitizer usage, they manage to catch whatever trendy bug is flying around. I always feel so badly when I see Nate's chapped little red nose, irritated from relentless snot and sore from constant tissue wiping. A humidifier and nose bulb can only work so quickly and do so much.

I happened to run across a new product called Boogie Wipes on an outing to Babies R Us. The packaging was so enticing, I debated buying a pack right then and there. But, marketer that I am, I thought I'd better read some reviews online first before taking the plunge. In my research, I read rave after rave review from fellow mommy bloggers. So, when I was granted the opportunity to review Boogie Wipes, I was hoping for the same postive experience.

Boogie Wipes were invented in 2007 by two mompreneurs, Julie and Mindee. After frustratingly trying to juggle saline spray, bulb syringes and dry tissues to soothe their kids' sniffles - and performing extensive research and development - they came up with a moist wipe powerful enough to dissolve boogery mucous but gentle enough to comfort sore noses. Since their introduction, Boogie Wipes have become an overnight success, selling in 30,000 retail stores nationwide.

What makes Boogie Wipes so different from an ordinary baby wipe? Let me count the ways. Boogie Wipes are:
  • Made with natural saline
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Alcohol-free
  • Moisturizing, with help from vitamin E, aloe and chamomile
  • Available in three fun scents (Original Fresh, Great Grape and Magic Menthol)
  • Safe to use with children of all ages
  • Phthalate & paraben-free
Boogie Wipes come in two convenient sizes: a resealable pouch of 30 wipes or "Boogies on the Run" boxes of 10 individually-wrapped wipes for lunchboxes, backpacks or purses. I was fortunate enough to receive a 30-count pack of the Fresh scent as well as several single packets in all three scents.

As I mentioned in a previous review, Nate has been teething for the past several days. For some reason, a runny nose always accompanies the eruption of teeth. So, this time, instead of whipping out the Kleenex or a wet cloth napkin, I grabbed the Boogie Wipes. I opened the package of Fresh scent first and the smell was absolutely divine. The wipes were large, soft, thick and cushiony. They were moist but not dripping wet or messy. Call me weird but I couldn't wait to swipe the snot from Nate's oozing nostrils.

Normally, when he sees me coming with the evil blue bulb, he runs frantically away from me. He knows it is going to involve me pinning down his extremities while simultaneously trying not to gouge his brain with the shaft of the syringe and/or nasal spray. He also hates (and I do not use this word lightly) to have his nose wiped, in any fashion. Probably because past chafing is so heavily emblazoned in his mind. So, when I used the Boogie Wipe, I wasn't surprised that he still scrunched up his face and turned away from me. However, there was no crying, screaming or running. One simple step got rid of the goo and we could go about our day, drama-free. Perfect! Unlike dry tissues that leave his snout red and raw with continued use, our Boogie Wipes left him only clean and dry. And because of the addition of saline, we didn't have to wipe nearly as often. Bonus!

We've also tried the Grape scent and it smelled pretty good but Fresh was still my favorite. We haven't yet tried the Menthol scent but I thought I'd save it for when we have major congestion to clear up. I love that I no longer have to traumatize my son to keep him healthy and booger-free. I can keep the larger pouch at home and throw two single packs in my purse and the diaper bag and we'll be covered no matter where we are.

Bottom line: I would highly recommend Boogie Wipes to keep your kids from looking like Rudolph this holiday season. They are gentle, safe and effective. Not to mention they are ultra-convenient and smell yummy! These wipes are a wonderfully practical addition to your medicine cabinet.

BUY IT: You can purchase Boogie Wipes online on their website (ARV $2.99-$3.99) or use their handy dandy store locator to find the retailer nearest you. If you join the Boogie Bunch, you can get a printable $1 off coupon!

I like this tip: "Warm 'Em Up - Try warming up a Boogie Wipe when you have a head cold for extra soothing relief and moisture...it really brings out the soothing sensation of the saline and aloe. Let it rest on your nose for a while for maximum Boogie relief."

What a nice idea!
