Review and Giveaway: Rainbow Brite Returns! CLOSED
If you're an 80's girl like me than you know Rainbow Brite. What little girl could resist those colorful, rainbow leg warmers, funky belt and temporary star tattoo under her eye? She was the epitome of cool back in my day.
Well, I have good news for you fans...Rainbow Brite is BACK! She's grown up a little and has a new look but she has the same cheerful personality. Along with her old pals Starlite and Twink, as well as two new sidekicks, Moonglow and Tickled Pink, she continues her imaginative adventures and spreads her positive messages of courage, kindness and hope.
To celebrate the return of Rainbow Brite, Hallmark has launched a brand new interactive website, which features videos, a new theme song, coloring pages, puzzles, games and more. And best of all, they are all free!
Also, starting this month, a new fashion doll collection featuring Rainbow Brite and friends will be hitting Toys R' Us and Target. (You can check the website for availability)
Thanks to MomSelect, I was able to review a Rainbow Brite CD-ROM chock full of the fun activities found on the website. As soon as the disc loaded and the animation and sound began, Nate ran over to see what the hubbub was about. He immediately pointed to Rainbow Brite, and seemed fascinated by all of the vibrant colors. He was much too young for the games but he did watch Mommy play along. The short video and theme song captured his attention and made him smile. He seemed to like it so I thought I'd test it out further with my 4-year old niece.
She loves horses, so as soon as she saw the ponies, she was in heaven. She guarded the CD with her life until we loaded it onto the laptop. She had a grand old time playing with the puzzles and games. Some were a little difficult for her and she needed some assistance, but she still had fun. I think she spent close to 45 minutes engrossed in the activities. We also printed out some of the coloring pages for her so she could get artsy after she was tired of using the computer.
Overall, I'd say the new Rainbow Brite gets two thumbs up!
WIN IT: I have three extra Rainbow Brite CD-ROM's to give away to three lucky readers! If you have a laptop or portable DVD player, this would be the perfect activity on the go, or you could just load it up at home and play together with your child!
