Beauty Tips of the Day with Unilever Giveaway! CLOSED

It's been almost two months since I introduced you to Unilever's Beauty Tip of the Day widget, which you'll see displayed in the footer of this blog. I hope you've enjoyed reading along and learning some new tricks of the trade. I promised you that I would check back in and share my experiences with some of the tips so here I am!

There were many tips that I found useful and I wanted to share them with you because they really work!

First, I always blow dry my hair in the bathroom directly following my piping hot shower. Big NO-NO! Steam from the shower creates humidity and leads to frizz. Duh! Why hadn't I figured this out a long time ago? So, they recommend blow drying outside of the bathroom and taming any flyaways with a clean, dry toothbrush. I've seen a dramatic difference in my hair since I've adopted this tip. The top layer of my hair is much more manageable and I don't have to use my flat iron nearly as much, so I can lessen the amount of heat damage to my mane. Yeah!

Second, I tend to suffer from dry, chapped lips - especially in wintertime. I avoid wearing lipstick because when I do, it flakes and looks ridiculous. So, I learned to exfoliate my lips with a soft toothbrush and dab some Vaseline on my lips to moisturize them overnight. In the morning, my lips are smooth and luscious, and I can wear my lipcolor and lip gloss comfortably.

Lastly, I have oily skin and am prone to breakouts. It is important for me to wash my skin regularly and I also apply astringent so I can feel the deep clean. What I didn't realize was that oil and dirt from my phone and keyboard could be transferred to my face. Gross! Since then, I've made more of an effort to be aware of what I'm putting on my face and keeping them tidy and clean.

I was fortunate enough to receive a box of goodies from Unilever to test out these beauty tips, including Dove shampoo, conditioner and deodorant, Pond's cleansing towelettes, Vaseline and Q-tips. The Dove shampoo and conditioner smell fantastic and make my hair shiny, while the Pond's towelettes are perfect to throw in my purse and clean my face or remove my makeup on-the-go. Vaseline and Q-tips are already standard essentials in my bathroom. I use Q-tips to clean my ears, as well as apply my eye makeup and concealer. And I use Vaseline to soothe my chapped lips, act as a barrier to diaper rash on Nate's bottom and even help heal minor cuts and scrapes. I haven't tried the Dove deodorant yet but I'm sure I'll be pleased with it, just as I have with all of their other products I've tried.
