CD Review: Little Music Lovers

I know Music Week Replay was last week - and Bookworm Week was this week - but I've been introduced to another product that I just had to share with you ASAP.

I've previously professed my love of classical music. The intricate instrumentals are soothing yet intellectually stimulating. It's pure musical artistry. And now I can share the masterpieces I love with my toddler.

Little Music Lovers, a four CD series for children, provides parents with an opportunity to introduce their babies and toddlers to the world around them by incorporating beautiful, thought-provoking music from the famous Decca catalog.

Little Music Lovers contains famous works by renowned composers such as Bach, Beethoven and Mozart along with well-known lullabies that will accompany little ones through all of their daily activities including play time, story time and of course, bed time. The musical pieces found in the Little Music Lovers collection were carefully selected for their melodic content, as well as their impact in enhancing early childhood development. Children will learn from the series, while parents can enjoy many hours of beautiful music.
Researchers believe that classical music causes "The Mozart Effect", a phenomenon that can aid in children's development of math, reasoning, memory and language skills. According to the American Psychological Association, music lessons - or simply listening to music - can enhance spatial reasoning performance. In addition to playing music, singing to or with your child can stimulate the brain. Babies can pick up on moods from music, associating lullabies with soothing and upbeat songs with playtime.

I had the pleasure of receiving a CD sampler of the Little Music Lovers series. Both Nate and I dug the tunes. Our favorites were Mozart's Concerto in C and Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14. I noticed that Nate was much more smiley and sociable as I played the music. He also babbled more than usual, which I found amusing. I liked that the music remained sophisticated and that each CD is designed for a particular part of our day from playtime to bedtime. You can do crafts while being inspired by Bach. Or read a board book as you listen to Beethoven. Whatever you choose to do, there's now a smart soundtrack to go along.

BUY IT: You can find Little Music Lovers at Barnes & Noble, Borders, Best Buy, Amazon, iTunes, or online at LittleMusicLovers.com (ARV $6.98). With the holidays approaching, this could be a fun, affordable stocking stuffer.

Disclaimer: I was sent a CD sampler from Bonny at Role Mommy to facilitate my candid review. I was not compensated in any other way for this post. The opinions expressed in this post are purely my own. You may have a different experience upon listening to this album collection.
