Music Week Replay Giveaway #2: Rockin', Rollin' and Ridin' with Rebecca Frezza & Big Truck CLOSED

Every once in a while, I come across an artist or band that makes me marvel, "why on Earth haven't I heard of them before?" I just have to seek out their previous albums to see what I've been missing. This is how I felt as I listened to Rebecca Frezza & the Big Truck band.

Rebecca Frezza is an established force in the children's music arena, with eight years of performing for families, five CDs, fourteen national awards and ten nationally televised music videos to her credit (seen on the Noggin Channel's Jack's Big Music Show and Move to the Music and on PBS Kids' preschool programming). Rockin' Rollin' and Ridin' follows Rebecca's previous recordings, Music In My Heart, Road Trip, Tall and Small, and Special Kind of Day, winners of honors from Parents' Choice, NAPPA, Children's Music Web, iParenting Media, Parents' Guide to Children's Media and Dr. Toy.

How could I have not heard of someone so talented? I must've been living under a rock. Then again, I only have a mere 15 months into this whole parenting gig so I'm still learning the ropes about toddler must-haves.

I was fortunate to receive their fifth album, the upcoming release Rockin' Rollin' and Ridin' for review. Included are remixes of previous favorites, as well as brand new original music.

As you can see, Nate occupied himself with the whimsical cover art while Mommy activated the stereo.

Frezza and her seven-piece band, Big Truck, create an infectious, high-energy ambience that dares you not to move along to the beat. They're similar in style to the Laurie Berkner Band, but this Big Truck is "souped up" and "revved up". Frezza's vocals blend harmoniously with the instrumentals, switching effortlessly from lively tracks such as "Rock Like This" to the tender "Smiling Moon".

The album is chock full of radio-ready hits like the bluesy-rock of "Big Truck" or Nate's favorite, the super catchy sing-a-long "Hey-O", featuring Roscoe Orman, who plays Gordon on Sesame Street. (Coincidence? I think not.) My personal fave is the spacey, electric pop ditty, "Robot Dancer". What can I say? I'm an 80's baby and this song makes me want to don a side ponytail and leg warmers.

Each song is interactive and begs you to participate, whether you're jumping, singing or flying like Superman. The album notes say it targets ages 4-8, or those who have outgrown preschool tunes but are not yet into adult mainstream pop. However, I think this CD would be appealing to any age group. Nate and I both enjoyed dancing around to it like we had ants in our pants. It's so upbeat, I could even picture myself working out to it. It will definitely get you up and moving.

With only 8 songs and a running time of just under 23 minutes, Rockin', Rollin' and Ridin' is like a great party. It's so much fun that you lose track of time and before you know it, it's over. Only you can rewind this party and replay it as much as you want! The short length works out great for the younger, toddler crowd with severe attention deficits. I've played the entire album multiple times and I don't think either of us are going to grow tired of this anytime soon.

Bottom line: I highly recommend giving Rebecca Frezza and Big Truck a listen. This is one party you won't want to miss. Check out their adorable animated music video below and see for yourself:
